TM Juke’s “Electric Chair” EP hooks you in from the start. Loaded with the characteristically beautiful yet quirky compositions and production, for which TM Juke (aka Alex Cowan) has become known, and brilliant variety, from pared-down bluesy soul to blissful downtempo electronica via the upbeat dancefloor-orientated Zumen Remix of “Come Away”.

The inspired collaborations on this 12” continue with additions from Elmore Judd, Alice Russell and Wyndham Earl.
The first track is the atmospheric “My World Is Empty Without You” featuring the vocals of Alice Russell. This bluesy tale of longing could have been written bespoke for the depth and expression of Alice’s amazing voice, with stripped down guitars and snare as accompaniment – its simplicity is the perfect example of TM Juke’s sensitivity and deftness of touch, and a complement to the 1970s original.

The title track, “Electric Chair” featuring Elmore Judd (taken from the acclaimed TM Juke album “Forward”), is classic, glorious TM Juke twisted soul. The soulful vocals and additional keys come from London-based Elmore Judd (EMI), aka Jesse Hackett, a keyboard player who has previously worked with the likes of Barrington Levy, Ms. Dynamite and Finlay Quaye. The exclusive instrumental version follows.

The Zumen (Raw Fusion) remix of “Come Away” is another previously unreleased track, upping the tempo of this EP and guaranteed to get bodies moving on the dancefloor.

“Pencils for Dolphins” (Wyndham Earl Mix) is as idiosyncratic as the title suggests and wraps this EP up in style. Opening with a catchy hook, the air of summery innocence about this instrumental track could brighten the gloomiest of days.
