Release Info:
Sugar Coated, The debut single for Leisure Recordings by new boy Parker is a symphony of Northern Soul beats and 60s funk orchestration coupled with a knockout female vocal courtesy of Sarah J Scott.
The flipside track Penny Dreadful is a mid-tempo, horn-led slice of 21st Century funk, clothed in a velveteen ensemble of strings, guitars and keys. Showcasing Parker's talent as a producer and skills as a beatsmith, it gives a good indication of the wealth of material he's got in the locker.
Previously linked with Grand Central, Parker became hot property when the Manchester imprint folded, and Leisure Recordings was quick to seize the chance of working with one of the country’s best up-and-coming producers. Radio 1’s Bethan and Huw recognised this when they promoted his To Eternity single in early 2006 with a session that featured an off-the-cuff whirlwind 10 minute mix. Steve Lamacq quickly followed suit, championing the same single on his evening show on Radio 1.
